Purpose Driven Life

“The purpose of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out” (Proverbs 20:5).

Many of us are looking for guidance and encouragement as we move toward the future. It all revolves around a God driven purpose. Once we align our lives with God’s purpose for our lives peace and contentment follow.

There is a great quote that I love and use often:

“At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.” — Maya Angelou

At the end of our lives the people in our lives will have differing recollections of what we did or said, but they will all remember for the rest of their lives how we made them feel. Life is not about position or income or title or possessions, it is about community and love and compassion. It is about being the person God meant for us to be. It is living up to the purpose for which you were created.

God tells us in Psalms 92 “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age; they will stay fresh and green”

Our Connection

Our connection is not from what we have accomplished but from the fruit we have created out of the purpose God has given us.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  – Ephesians 2:10

I have had a 48-year career in technology, working for companies like AT&T, British Telecom, Storage Technologies, and Stanford Research Institute. I have experienced considerable success and mind-numbing disasters.

Along the way, many wonderful incredible people became friends. Friends I made at work 45 years ago still stay in contact. They are a treasure and a blessing.

Along with working with great evangelist organizations like Bill Glass Behind the Walls, Roswell Day of Hope, and High-Tech Ministries. I have worked with local initiatives like North Fulton Community Charities, and Habitat for Humanities.

I now work with International Micro Enterprise Development (IMED). This Christ-based business incubator strives to raise people out of poverty by helping them create businesses with a kingdom impact. I worked on projects in Honduras, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, and Togo. We have developed or enhanced forty-two new micro-businesses in Honduras through my association with Bussiness as Mission Honduras.

Raised in a small farm community in the Midwest, I worked through college. I currently reside in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia.

“Each current season using the last season to build toward the next season.” The grace that God has demonstrated in our lives He will use to create our future. We live in a broken world. God uses that to prepare us for what He has in store for us. If we do not learn from the past, we are in danger of reliving it.

When the Israelite’s passed through the Red Sea into the promised land, each tribe took a stone and added it to a memorial. (Joshua 4:3-7) This memorial was a reminder of what they had been through, how God had blessed them, and their journey forward.
